In July 2021 I got a text, “your mom is in the hospital. she’s ok. they’re saying it’s breast cancer.” I almost threw up.
the world shifted for me that day.
she would go on to live another 4 and a half years after receiving that stage iv breast cancer diagnosis. she moved from Texas to Vermont, the place I imaged she felt most connected to.
in may 2025 she grew weaker and her time more short. I travelled to see her one last time.
